Study in Australia from Kuwait — FAQ
IELTS scores, costs, student visa, intakes and applications.
What IELTS score do I need to study in Australia?
Most Australian universities ask for IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0 for undergraduate study; postgraduate courses often require 6.5–7.0, and some programmes (such as nursing, teaching or medicine) require more. The Student visa also has its own English requirement. IDP IELTS Kuwait offers IELTS Academic and free counselling to confirm the exact score for your course.
How much does it cost to study in Australia from Kuwait?
Tuition varies by course and university — undergraduate degrees typically range from about AUD 20,000 to AUD 45,000 per year, with living costs on top. Your total budget depends on your city, course and lifestyle. IDP IELTS Kuwait counsellors give you a personalised cost estimate and help you find scholarships — free of charge.
How do I apply to an Australian university from Kuwait?
IDP IELTS Kuwait guides the whole process free of charge: shortlist universities, prepare your documents and IELTS, apply to several institutions, receive offers, and accept your place (your Confirmation of Enrolment). As a company co-owned by Australia’s universities and connected to every one of them, IDP can place you with confidence. Book a free session at ielts.com.kw.
What visa do I need to study in Australia?
You need an Australian Student visa (subclass 500). It requires a Confirmation of Enrolment from your university, evidence of English (such as IELTS), financial capacity, health insurance (OSHC) and meeting the Genuine Student requirement. IDP IELTS Kuwait helps you prepare and lodge the application correctly.
When are the intakes for Australian universities?
Australia’s two main intakes are February and July, and some universities offer an additional intake later in the year. Because IELTS, applications and the visa take time, start several months ahead of your intended intake. IDP IELTS Kuwait counsellors help you plan the timeline backwards from your start date.
Can I work while studying in Australia?
Yes. Student visa holders can generally work up to 48 hours per fortnight while your course is in session and without limit during scheduled breaks (subject to current government rules). After graduating you may be eligible for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) to work in Australia. IDP counsellors explain your work and post-study options.
Why apply to Australia through IDP Kuwait?
IDP was founded in Australia, is co-owned by Australia’s universities and connected to all of them, and has been in Kuwait since 2000. You get free, expert counselling, application support, IELTS testing, visa guidance and onshore arrival support — all in one place. Book a free session at ielts.com.kw.
Are scholarships available to study in Australia?
Yes — many Australian universities offer merit and international-student scholarships that can significantly reduce your tuition. IDP IELTS Kuwait helps you identify and apply for the scholarships you actually qualify for, at no cost. Start at ielts.com.kw.
