Computer-delivered vs paper IELTS
The test content, format and scoring are exactly the same. What changes is how you take it — and how soon you get your results.
IELTS Kuwait runs computer-delivered IELTS at all four venues. You answer Listening, Reading and Writing on a computer; Speaking is always a face-to-face conversation with a certified examiner, on the same or a nearby day.
Whichever format you choose, the questions, timing and band scores are identical — so neither is "easier" than the other.
Why most candidates choose computer-delivered
- Results in 2 to 5 days, versus around 13 days on paper.
- Many more test dates and sessions to choose from.
- Type your Writing — easy to edit, and no handwriting to decode.
- A built-in word count, timer and highlight tools on screen.
- Quieter, individual workstations with headphones for Listening.
Paper might suit you if
- You strongly prefer writing by hand and annotating on paper.
- You are more comfortable reading long passages off the page.
You do not need advanced computer skills — basic typing and mouse use are enough. Free familiarisation tests let you practise the on-screen format before test day.
