You can preview your IELTS results online within 3 to 5 days for computer-delivered IELTS or on the 13th day for paper-based IELTS.
Getting your IELTS results is easy. How and when you receive your results will depend on the test type and test format of your IELTS test.
Paper-based IELTS
Your test results and your Test Report Form (TRF) will be available 13 days after you complete the test.
Computer-delivered IELTS
You can view your test results 3 to 5 days after you complete the test.
IELTS for UKVI
If you had taken up the IELTS Academic for UKVI or the IELTS General Training for UKVI tests, then you can view your test results 13 days after you complete the test.
Life Skills for UKVI
If you had taken the Life Skills A1, A2 or B1 tests, then you can view your results 7 days after you complete the test.
In the IELTS Life Skills test, your results are given as a pass or fail mark.
There is no pass or fail in IELTS Academic or General Training test. Scores are graded on the 9-band system. Each educational institution or organisation sets its own level of IELTS scores to meet its individual requirements.
We post your test results to you as soon as they are released, which is 3 to 5 days for computer-delivered IELTS and 13 calendar days for paper-based IELTS. Some test centres will allow test takers to pick up their Test Report Form directly from the centre, so we recommend contacting them prior to the release of results to discuss this.
If you have been waiting on your IELTS Test Report Form (TFR) with your official result, but have not received it, we recommend contacting your test centre. In some rare circumstances, IELTS results can be delayed because of security and integrity reasons. If there are concerns about any matter associated with your test and if it is considered that malpractice may have occurred, you will be advised that your results have been withheld. In exceptional circumstances, it may be required that you need to re-sit one or more IELTS test parts.
You can apply for a review of your band scores (called an Enquiry on Results) at your test centre within six weeks of the test date.
You must pay an enquiry fee, which is fully refunded if your band score changes. If your band score changes, you will be issued a new Test Report Form (TRF).
The request for a remark must be made within 6 weeks of the date shown on your Test Report Form (TRF). You can request a remark on the whole test or any part of it (Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking).
If you take computer-delivered IELTS, your Test Report Form (TRF) will be posted 3 to 5 days after your test date. If you take paper-based IELTS, your Test Report Form will be available 13 calendar days after your test date.
You will only receive one copy of your Test Report Form, unless you are applying to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), or United Kingdom Visas and Immigration (UKVI) – in this case, you can receive two. Some test centres provide SMS alerts and you can preview your results online. Contact your local test centre to find out more.
If you take IELTS on computer, you will receive your results 3 to 5 days after sitting your test. However, if you take IELTS on paper, you will receive your results 13 days after sitting your test.
When booking your IELTS test, you are given the option to have your IELTS results sent up to up to 5 nominated institutions. If you have already taken the test and would like to send your results to a recognising organisation, contact the test centre where you sat your exam. They will be able to help. Note that there may be additional fees for this.
